How much is the class?  $650 (plus tax) for Traffic Safety Education Course.

  • A $50 deposit is due with online registration. Payment is made via checkout.
  • The total with tax for Camas will be $705.90, and for Orchards will be $707.20.
  • The remaining payment will be collected at enrollment night, approximately 1 week before class start. Watch for the email that will be sent 2-3 weeks before the class starts.
  • Payments onsite can be made by Zelle, cash, check, or card. There is a 3% convenience fee on cards at the school. 

How many classes can I miss? The State of Washington allows up to three absences, and all absences must be made up.

Is there a payment plan?  $50 is required at the time of registration, half tuition is required by the class start date, and full tuition by the class end date.

If we decide to drop, can I receive a refund?

  • Full Refund, minus a $25 non-refundable processing fee, will be given up to 3 days BEFORE the course start date.
  • Full Refund, minus a $50 non-refundable processing fee, will be given up to the third class.
  • After the third class, no refunds will be given.

If we decide to move to another class, is there a charge?

  • $25 transfer fee will be charged once in-person student enrollment has been finalized
  • $50 transfer fee will be charged after orientation
  • After the third class, transfers will be based on owners’ discretion

What age does my student need to be to enroll in Driver’s Education? Students must be at least 15 years of age on or before the first day of class.

Can adult learners enroll in Driver’s Education? Yes

Does my child need Driver’s Education to get a license? The State of Washington requires individuals under the age of 18 to pass a state-approved Traffic Safety Course, which includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction (or 5 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and 4 hours of driving simulation), and 1 hour of student observation.

When can my child get their permit? Students are eligible to get their permit 10 days before the course starts without testing. To get a permit earlier, they must be at least 15 ½ and pass a state knowledge test.

What are the requirements to be licensed in WA State? 

  • To get your first driver license under the age of 18, you must:
    • Be at least 16 years old
    • Be a Washington resident (your license will show your Washington address)
    • Successfully complete an approved driver training program
    • Have your Washington learner permit for at least 6 months (this time can include your out-of-state learner permit)
    • Not have been convicted of any:
      • Traffic violations within 6 months prior to applying for the license
      • Alcohol or drug offense while having a learner permit

If my student fails the driver’s ed written exam or the behind-the-wheel exam, what happens? Students are given multiple attempts at the written exam at no additional cost. Repeated attempts at passing the class driving final exam will result in a cost of $35 per attempt. Students must meet all course requirements within sixteen weeks from the first day of class.

Do you offer in-person Driver’s Education courses? Our courses are online via Zoom. Currently, we do not offer in-person courses.

How many practice drives does my student have? 5 1-hour Behind-the-Wheel lessons are included in the tuition

Are there any hidden fees?  The tuition covers the Traffic Safety Education course (30 hours classroom, 5 hours Behind-the-wheel, 4 hours simulation and observations) required by the state. We also offer the state knowledge test to our students for free (unlimited attempts) and a reduced rate for the state drive test.

The only additional Fees:

  • No-show fee / late cancellation (for drives) $40
  • Returned checks (NSF, etc.) $20
  • Verbal test – Class written final $40

Does Driver’s Ed take care of everything, including the permitting and licensing? The State of Washington will charge fees to issue a permit and a license. These charges are in addition to the fee for the traffic safety course.

Why does my student have to do an observation drive? The State of Washington requires one hour of observation as part of a traffic safety course.

How do I print out my student’s permit online? Instructions will be emailed at least 3 weeks before class begins.

Do I need to go to the Department of Licensing to get a permit? To obtain a permit with a picture, you must go in person to the Department of Licensing.  If you want to get a permit without a picture, instructions will be emailed at least 3 weeks before class begins.

How do I make up missed classes? Make-up classes will be scheduled via Zoom or in-person depending on the course, see the class schedule for the course you are considering.
