Getting Your Washington Driver License

In order to obtain a driver license in the State of Washington, you must meet the following qualifications:

16-17 years old:

  • Pass a WA DOL-approved TRAFFIC SAFETY EDUCATION COURSE
  • have an instruction permit for a minimum of 6 months
  • Complete a minimum of fifty (50) hours of practice driving
  • Pass the WA state knowledge exam
  • pass the WA state behind-the-wheel skills exam

18 years old and older:

  • Pass the WA state knowledge exam
  • pass the WA state behind-the-wheel skills exam

In addition to our TRAFFIC SAFETY EDUCATION COURSE, Confident Driving offers the state knowledge exam and the state behind-the-wheel skills exam.
